Environmentally-friendly Nutrition: changing food production and consumption (2018)

Johan Rockström summarises the challenge nicely: “The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) sets targets for ending poverty, protecting the planet, and ensuring prosperity for all. Food is central to achieving this ambitious agenda, as it lies at the heart of most of the 17 SDGs. Food systems are the main cause of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, the main user of fresh water, the leading cause of biodiversity loss, the main driver of land-use change and the main cause behind human interference in biogeochemical cycles such as nitrogen and phosphorus. Nothing short of a global transformation of the food system will be needed to stand any chance of reaching all 17 SDGs. In short, if we get it right with food, we get it right with everything else.”

The TEam

Hello everybody,

we are the YES-Team of the Richard-Hallmann-School in Trappenkamp. Our school has been taking part in the Yes project for 3 years. In this year, our idea is going to be about the topic of food waste. On the one hand, we want to stop the “throwaway culture” in our society and on the other hand, we want to solve this problem in a social way… But enough of that. Our primary goal of taking part in this project is the aspect of getting in contact with other creative teams and having fun.
Hopefully, we will be able to convince you with our idea, let yourself be surprised.

Kind regards
Iven, Paulina, Ria, Lennart, Jascha ( from left to right )

Hello, my name is Iven, and I’m 17 years old. I live in Bornhöved near Kiel. I’m visiting the 11th grade of the Richard-Hallmann-School.
Apart from school, I’m interested in economics and politics. I did many school projects in this field like Euroscola Straßburg etc.
And that´s the reason why I’m taking part in “Yes!”.I want to learn and change something with my knowledge.

Hi, my name is Paulina, and I live in Wahlstedt, near Bad Segeberg. I am 17 years old, and I am visiting the 11th grade of the Richard-Hallmann-School.
In my free time, I live a “normal girl life”, going on shopping trips, watching a lot of series and all these kind of things. My sports activities are football and performance gymnastics. Also, I am very interested in Mathematics and our environment. For me, it is critical to pay attention to how we shape our daily life concerning our planet.
I hope I can make a lot of new experiences with my YES! Team in this competition.

Hey, my name is Ria, and I´m 17 years old. I live in Bad Segeberg, and I´m visiting the 11th grade of the Richard-Hallmann-School. My profile is geography, and I´m very interested in it. Our topic fits perfect to me because I´ve always has been involved in it. I also dealt with the problem in my project exam. Another reason I am involved in the topic is that I am vegetarian since I was a child. I think it is vital to watch out for how we affect the world around us and I hope that Yes gives us a chance present our ideas, to convince you and to impress all of you.
