YES! – Young Economic Summit

The YES! – Young Economic Summit opens doors and sets a stage for new and creative ideas of the next generation. High school students work on global problems in the realm of economy, policy, society, and environment. They take on responsibility for the most pressing challenges of today and tomorrow and make their voices heard. The students aim to find innovative solutions to create the world, in which the youth of today wants to live in tomorrow.

After working intensely on the chosen topics, the students present their solutions at a two-day conference to the interested public. The YES! 2017 is taking place in September 2017 in Kiel, Germany. In a lively discourse with other students and influential international decision-makers from business, academia, politics and civil society, they sharpen their views on complex global interdependencies, and experience that they are not merely affected by economic reality, but rather play an active role in economic life.

The best solution proposals will be determined through a democratic process involving all participating students and the whole YES!-Community. The selected solutions will be summarised in a petition to be handed to organisations and institutions with the power to implement those ideas.

The YES! – Young Economic Summit is a joint project of the ZBW – Leibniz Information Centre for Economics and the Joachim Herz Stiftung under the patronage of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs. The YES! is supported by the academic partners of the Kiel Institute for the World Economy (IfW) in Kiel, the Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW) in Mannheim, the GIGA German Institute of Global and Area Studies in Hamburg and of course the researchers, mentors and employees of the ZBW – Leibniz Information Centre for Economics in Kiel and Hamburg.
