Environmentally-friendly nutrition- changing food production and consumption
Today we want to tell you guys something about our first steps in our YES!-Project. Furthermore, we want to show you what we have achieved so far and what we want to do in the future.
As a group, we decided to work on this topic because we think that the way in which we consume food in our society has reached a dangerous point. A good example of this problem is the excessive consumption of meat, which means a big danger for the environment and our planet. Even though the most people know about the bad consequences of their behaviour on our planet, they don’t change it. This is something we have to work on.
To start with, we read some studies about our topic, for instance, the “Fleischatlas.” During our research, we already thought about some problems which could be interesting to discuss further in the YES! – Kickoff meeting. For example, one thing we thought about was how to use resources effectively.
At the YES!-Kickoff we met our project manager Kai and our academic advisor Dr Christine Merk for the first time. It was a great experience to talk with some experts about this interesting topic. Dr Merk told us interesting facts about her work and what she knows about our topic. We talked a lot about economics and how we can connect this with food consumption. Afterwards, we talked about how to do great research and how to find the right information. It was a really great and revealing day, and we learned a lot of new things, for example, the nudging-methods supermarkets use.
Now we think about what we want to focus on and how to find good solutions for problems, which concern our topic area. The exact focus of the project is yet to be set, so this is what we are doing first. We are excited to continue our journey on the YES!-project with a lot of fun and new and interesting experiences.
